A Family Tradition

Betty's Tasty Buttons' original fudge recipe came from my grandmother Betty. She was a generous, friendly woman that was all too happy to treat family and friends with tins of little chocolate morsels. Betty made two types; one with nuts and one without. Picky children that disliked nuts were accomodated and soon she all but forgot the nut version.
Grandmother Betty was happy to pass the recipe along to me when I was about 10 years old. We had loads of fun spreading the fresh hot fudge into the pans to cool. Over the past couple of years I have been creating new variations, but always keeping her basic recipe intact. Making this fudge always reminds me of being in Betty's kitchen at the lake. It is my hope that you can have a fond memory as well when you eat some of Betty's Tasty Buttons. Enjoy! Sincerely, Liz

Catch & Release

The Betty's Catch and Release Program (CRP) began once it was clear that if Betty's Tasty Buttons was to last a foundation was needed to discover and protect vintage buttons and their habitats. Yes, this is slightly in jest, but it does come out of a need for more buttons.
Vintage buttons are beautiful and inspiring as well as put the final touch on a box of Betty's Tasty Buttons. Vintage buttons live in a wide variety of habitats some of which are endangered as more and more stores, attics and basements are conquered by the crafters of the world.

The CRP promotes the gathering of these vintage buttons. For every ounce of buttons sent to Betty's CRP the participant will receive an ounce of fudge. The release part of the program happens quickly. The caught buttons can quickly be integrated into the population and end up on a box of fudge within minutes of capture. Being on the box allows for dispursement to new habitats like drawers and boxes where the buttons can again live happily away from threat of the clutter-free.
